E. Ralph Godfrey

E. Ralph Godfrey is a partner in the firm's Harrisburg office.  He concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning and administration, residential and commercial real estate, litigation and cybersecurity.

In addition to his real estate and estate planning and administration experience, Mr. Godfrey has extensive knowledge in litigating fiduciary matters, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability claims, commercial and real estate issues, business disputes, and real estate and settlement agent malpractice claims.  Mr. Godfrey has considerable experience in jury trials, arbitrations and mediations, and has handled numerous cases with exposure in excess of $1 million.  Additionally, he has handled a variety of matters before Pennsylvania Administrative Agencies and the Pennsylvania Appellate Courts.

Prior to joining Cipriani & Werner, Mr. Godfrey was Assistant Chief Counsel at the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission and entered private practice with one of the largest defense firms in Pennsylvania.  He has also owned and operated a real estate settlement company conducting hundreds of real estate settlements.

Mr. Godfrey is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Cumberland County Bar Associations, as well as the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.  He is also a member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He has lectured on various topics including estate planning and administration, real estate matters and litigation. 

Mr. Godfrey is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Maryland, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Mr. Godfrey received his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from The Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University in 1992.  He attended Widener University School of Law, graduating in 1995.

As a native of Lancaster, Mr. Godfrey resides in Carlisle with his wife and children.
