Biography

Jack has spent most of his 30-year professional career serving the needs of a diverse group of companies in regulated industries, most notably banking and financial services, government contracting, information technology, healthcare and biotech. He has advised and assisted these companies in areas of capitalization, turnaround & restructuring, recapitalization and M&A strategies. As a practicing attorney, Jack’s areas of concentration have been banking, loan workouts, turnarounds and M&A. As a Partner in an Asset Management Firm he served as a bank turnaround specialist and team leader involved in four successful bank turnarounds. In addition to managing law firms, including one that he founded, he has managed teams of professionals for bank and business turnarounds and reorganizations, distress asset financing & disposition and M&A transactions across multiple industries.

He has assisted start-up and growth stage companies obtain multiple rounds of financing, restructure burdensome debt, improve equity structure and achieve growth strategies. He has also structured and implemented corporate reorganizations and designed and directed investment and M&A strategies for public and private healthcare and biotechnology companies as well as professional services and sports management firms and government contractors. Jack was a partner in the Hutchinson Group, founded by former Under-Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and Governor of Arkansas, Asa Hutchinson, where he advised corporate clients on M&A and financial transactions.

In the 1990’s Jack served dual roles for The Jefferson Group, a Washington DCbased government relations and business consulting firm. For Jefferson, he served as General Counsel and CFO/COO, directed operations, M&A strategic growth initiatives and supported the needs of the core business units. As Managing Director of Jefferson Partners, LLC, an affiliate merchant bank and strategic business advisory firm, Jack directed the operations and business development for this firm that represented early and growth stage health care, biotechnology and information technology companies in need of financing, government relations and operational support. Jack directly guided many of the transactions as he structured the financing, developed strategic partnering and business development strategies, and served in interim C-level positions for portfolio companies.

Jack has been a mentor for the New York City Investment Fund Bio-Accelerate Program and the NYC Venture Fellows Program. Jack has served as an Adjunct faculty member and taught Leadership & Organizational Decision Making and Leadership & Ethics at the Masters level and is a former Marine Corps Officer.
