Patrick C. Carey is a partner in the firm's Scranton and Port Jervis offices.  He focuses his practice on medical malpractice and professional licensing issues.  Mr. Carey regularly defends physicians, physician assistants, nurses, hospitals, long-term care facilities and other healthcare providers insured by all of the major medical professional liability insurance carriers in a wide variety of medical malpractice claims.

For over 35 years, Mr. Carey has successfully defended more than 150 jury trials on behalf of virtually every specialty, including but not limited to, family practice, internal medicine, gastroenterology, general surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, neurology, plastic surgery, dermatology orthopedics, anesthesiology, ophthalmology, oral surgery, dentistry, podiatry and neurosurgery with a remarkable record for success.  This has resulted in physicians frequently asking for Mr. Carey to be their lawyer of choice.  He has also successfully represented physicians on professional issues before the Pennsylvania Licensing Bureau.

Mr. Carey has also represented lawyers in professional legal malpractice matters, as well as defending complex commercial litigation matters.

He frequently has served as a guest speaker to the medical profession, and most recently was asked to address the International College of Interventional Cardiologists at their annual meeting in New York City on the subject of radial and femoral approach to cardiac catheterization and angioplasty.  He also authored the Podiatric Risk Management Guide in 2005 and has served as a guest speaker to medical staffs at Grand Rounds.

Mr. Carey has received the highest level AV® Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell, and is recognized as a Top Rated Lawyer in Healthcare.

He is a member of the Pennsylvania and Lackawanna County Bar Associations.  Mr. Carey is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, New York and Wisconsin.

He received his B.A., with honors, from the University of Scranton in 1977 and his J.D. from Marquette University Law School in 1980.
