Sunil S. Tilak is an associate in the firm's Metropolitan New York (Woodbridge) office.  He concentrates his practice in the defense of transportation, environmental, construction defect and creditors' rights matters, as well as municipal and public entities.

Sunil S. Tilak is an associate in the firm's Metropolitan New York (Woodbridge) office.  He concentrates his practice in the defense of transportation, environmental, construction defect and creditors' rights matters, as well as municipal and public entities.

Mr. Tilak has significant experience litigating a wide range of complex bodily injury and property damage claims in the context of personal and commercial transportation, premises liability and Tort Claims Act actions.  Specifically, he has defended public school boards in a variety of actions involving automobile, premises liability, wrongful death and harassment, intimidation and bullying claims.  Mr. Tilak has represented some of the nation's largest insurers in first and third party coverage litigation, provided carriers with advice in the form of coverage opinions analyzing claims, and prepared reservation of rights and disclaimers in connection with same.

Mr. Tilak  has also represented some of the nation's largest financial institutions in both commercial and residential foreclosure and bankruptcy proceedings.  He has handled matters in the pre-suit phase, and successfully litigated cases through final judgment.  Additionally, Mr. Tilak is well-versed in navigating his clients through loss mitigation, be it through loan modifications and other retention options or "graceful exits."  He is knowledgeable of the relevant state and federal laws that Obligees and Mortgagees are bound by, and guides his clients through the litigation process.

Mr. Tilak is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York, as well as the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

He has been selected for inclusion in the New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Star list for 2018 and 2019 in the areas of Construction Litigation, Insurance Coverage, Creditor Debtor Rights and Personal Injury, a recognition bestowed on less than 3% of lawyers practicing within the state.

Mr. Tilak received his B.S. from Indiana University in 2007 and his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law - Camden in 2010.
