Susan Jortner Deely

Susan Jortner Deely is an associate in the firm's Lancaster office.  She focuses her practice on corporate law, employee benefits, taxation and general employment law matters.  Ms. Deely's diverse background allows her to provide comprehensive counsel to businesses across multiple disciplines.

Susan Jortner Deely is an associate in the firm's Lancaster office.  She focuses her practice on corporate law, employee benefits, taxation and general employment law matters.  Ms. Deely's diverse background allows her to provide comprehensive counsel to businesses across multiple disciplines.

Ms. Deely is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.  She is a member of the Lancaster Bar Association and is co-chair of its Workers' Compensation Committee for 2018.  Ms. Deely has also presented extensively to employer and human resources groups on employment law and employee benefits issues.

She is active in the community through the Women of Congregation Shaarai Shomayim.  Ms. Deely also sits on the Board of Directors for The Gate House, a non-profit provider of addiction recovery services.

She received her M.A. and B.A., summa cum laude, from Emory University in 1990 and her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1993.  Following graduation, Ms. Deely clerked for the Honorable Jerome Neidermeier, United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Vermont.  She then worked for Western Massachusetts Legal Aid from 1994 to 1996.  After a hiatus from law to rear her three children, Ms. Deely obtained an LL.M in Taxation from the Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2013, with a focus on employee benefits.
