Geoffrey T. Witherspoon

Geoffrey T. Witherspoon, II is an associate in the firm’s Washington metropolitan area (DMV) offices.  As a member of the Family Law practice group, he assists clients from case inception through enforcement of court orders and agreements in a wide variety of domestic relations matters.  Mr. Witherspoon approaches each of his clients with patience and empathy to ensure that the lines of communication are established at the heart of the client’s issue.

Geoffrey T. Prior to joining C&W, Mr. Witherspoon was an associate in the Family Law practice group at a law firm in Bethesda, Maryland.  His previous experience also includes working with the Minority Corporate Counsel Association and clerking for several judges on the domestic relations calendar at the District of Columbia Superior Court.

Mr. Witherspoon's most rewarding professional experiences were serving as a lead research assistant for the Domestic Relations Manual with the District of Columbia for two years and serving as Co-Chair of the Social Justice Committee of the Washington Bar Association Young Lawyers' Division for three years, where he received the Donald A. Thigpen, Jr. Rising Star Award in 2018.

Mr. Witherspoon is admitted to practice in Maryland and New York.

Mr. Witherspoon earned his B.A. in Legal Communications from Howard University in 2011 and his J.D. from Howard University School of Law in 2014.  While studying at Howard, he was a member of the Human Rights & Globalization Law Review.

Through these experiences, Mr. Witherspoon found his passion for social equality and the legal process.  His lifelong goal is to ensure that impoverished communities have access to quality representation, access to resources that promote generational wealth, and access to justice as they understand it.
