During his career, Mr. Markins has successfully tried numerous cases to verdict for his clients.  Though the vast majority of litigated matters do not reach trial, clients can be assured that if trial is necessary, it will be handled properly.  Mr. Markins has successfully guided clients through large scale litigation and frequently practices in front of West Virginia’s Mass Litigation Panel.  Recently he defended the general contractor alleged to have contributed to the failure of the largest engineered slope in the United States.  He has also defended a large national pharmaceutical company from allegations associated with improper marketing of opioids.  Regardless of the size of the litigation, he has always prided himself on individual attention to his clients.  Every case is important to somebody is the driving principle of his practice.

Mr. Markins is a member of the CLM and Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia.

He is a life-long resident of West Virginia and is proud to have received his entire education in the Mountain State.  He received his B.S. from Marshall University in 1997 and his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law in 2001, where he won four awards for individual classroom performance, as well as the Patrick Duffy Koontz Award in recognition of outstanding leadership and academic achievement.  He was also a member of the West Virginia Law Review in 2000 and 2001 and finished his law school years as an Order of the Coif graduate.

Mr. Markins lives in Hurricane, West Virginia with his wife, Kristi, and their children.  When not practicing law, the family loves to travel together and they are always looking forward to their next adventure.
