Wesley H. White

Wesley (Wes) H. White is Of Counsel in the firm’s Charleston office.  With a wide range of legal and leadership experience, he focuses his practice on Banking and Creditor’s Rights, Business Counseling, Commercial Litigation, Premises Liability, Product Liability, and Motor Vehicle matters.  Prior to joining C&W in 2021, Mr. White was the Deputy Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Commerce where he played a significant role in various economic and business development deals in West Virginia.

Wesley (Wes) H. White is Of Counsel in the firm’s Charleston office.  With a wide range of legal and leadership experience, he focuses his practice on Banking and Creditor’s Rights, Business Counseling, Commercial Litigation, Premises Liability, Product Liability, and Motor Vehicle matters.  Prior to joining C&W in 2021, Mr. White was the Deputy Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Commerce where he played a significant role in various economic and business development deals in West Virginia.

While working as Deputy Secretary, Mr. White negotiated the first multi-million-dollar long-haul broadband fiber deal on behalf of the state’s Broadband Enhancement Counsel which connected to data-centers outside of the state resulting in the fastest high-speed internet in the state’s history.  Mr. White oversaw the state's Opportunity Zone program where he advised clients how to structure investments and operate in opportunity zones in compliance with state and federal laws resulting in higher investment returns for clients and creating jobs in low-income areas in the state.

Mr. White was a voting member of the West Virginia Municipal Home Rule Board program where he assisted local governments amend outdated statewide rules in an effort to better assist local municipalities with local problems.  He was also a member of the Tri-State Shale Coalition where he worked on bringing oil and gas infrastructure and jobs to the tri-state area of West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Coming from a long line of self-made entrepreneurs, clients respect Mr. White’s business-minded approach and accessibility as much as they do his legal experience.  He has a vast range of litigation experience in various areas.  He has ample first-chair court experience in a wide variety of matters and has litigated at all levels of West Virginia courts including magistrate, state and federal court, and has appeared multiple times in front of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.

Mr. White is admitted to practice in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C., as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia.
