COVID-19: WV Supreme Court of Appeals Extends Judicial Emergency Order...Again

On April 22, 2020 the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia amended its previously entered Judicial Emergency Order to extend the operative time frame of the Order to May 15, 2020. This Order further stays all activity that would require in person contact in civil cases. All jury trials are also stayed during this time period. Statute of Limitations and Statutes of Repose that expire during the pendency of the Order are now automatically extended to May 18, 2020. The Order, however, does continue to make very limited exceptions for emergency proceedings in juvenile, abuse and neglect, mental hygiene, child custody and criminal matters.
