Washington, D.C. – Each year, the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association recognizes LGBTQ+ legal professionals (practicing lawyers, law professors, corporate counsel, members of the judiciary, politicians, etc.) under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in their field and have demonstrated a profound commitment to LGBTQ+ equality.  Awardees will be recognized during the 2023 Lavender Law® Conference and Career Fair.

2023 was a highly competitive year for this award, with over 130 nominations for very qualified and passionate young LGBTQ+ attorneys. The LGBTQ+ Bar is heartened to see such a diverse, talented, and driven group of individuals within the legal profession and commends them on their considerable achievement.

Geoffrey T. Witherspoon, II is an associate in the firm’s Washington metropolitan area (DMV) offices.  As a member of the Family Law practice group, Geoffrey enjoys being able to advocate for the minority communities with which he identifies; namely, the Black community and the LGBTQ+ community. Part of his practice includes representing members of the trans community through the name & gender change processes in the DMV-area and drafting estate planning documents and prenuptial agreements for LGBTQ+ couples.
