Angela B. Taylor

Angela B. Taylor, Esq. is the firm’s Chief Diversity Officer.  She also serves as an advisor on insurance client services.  In her role as Chief Diversity Officer, Ms. Taylor is responsible for developing and advancing the implementation of proactive diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in support of Cipriani & Werner’s strategic plan to create a workplace environment and experience where all have an opportunity to succeed.  Additionally, she collaborates with the Corporate Leadership Team to identify opportunities to expand training initiatives on cultural competency, gender differences, disability, sexual harassment, and other topics designed to increase awareness and support of equity and inclusion values, while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Taylor was Assistant Vice President and Manager of Legal Strategic Services Eastern Region at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for over 20 years where she managed approved outside counsel located in 15 states.  Among her responsibilities, she led a legal team in successfully providing strategic guidance to approved counsel facilitating increased engagement of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts focused to improve hiring, promotion and retention practices relative to diverse talent.  Ms. Taylor actively engaged with law firm leaders to assess efforts, identify roadblocks or challenges, and provide insightful coaching to assist with achieving more inclusive cultures.  Her responsibilities also included engagement in the development of DEI strategies and innovative processes and working collaboratively with data analysts providing insight to help establish enhanced DEI metrics utilized to assess overall progress.  Beyond her job responsibilities, Ms. Taylor was an active member of the Legal Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee and was a member and/or ally of several employee resource groups.

Ms. Taylor began her legal career as an Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Philadelphia handling litigation including civil rights and general liability matters from inception through trial.  She subsequently joined Holl & Associates, a boutique insurance defense firm, as a trial attorney and later as co-managing attorney of the Philadelphia office.  Thereafter, Ms. Taylor joined the Law Offices of Pennell Jenkins Robinson Wolf & Rubinate, staff counsel for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, as senior trial counsel and supervising attorney.  She later became lead attorney for the SIU team and additionally developed and implemented a framework to enhance and expand the subrogation practice group.  She was later promoted to Regional Litigation Manager and subsequently, Assistant Vice President in the Legal Strategic Services group in the Corporate Legal Department.

Outside of the office, Ms. Taylor has served as the Co-Chair of the Compulsory Arbitration Committee, appointed by the Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association.  She worked closely with judges from the Court of Common Pleas Civil Division and the Philadelphia Arbitration Center staff to address issues and concerns relative to the arbitration and ADR court systems in Philadelphia and recommend formal proposals of change to the Board of Governors.

Ms. Taylor has served as a panelist for the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) annual meeting presenting on topics such as diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and litigation management and insurance client relationships.  She also served as a panelist and moderator at the annual Liberty Mutual Legal Academy.  Additionally, Ms. Taylor has participated in numerous presentations to law firms and insurance professionals regarding DEI and insurance client relationships and services.

Ms. Taylor received her Certified Litigation Management Professional designation (CLMP) in 2013.  She was recognized as a “Woman on the Move” by the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance in 2016 and nominated Litigation Management Professional of the Year in 2019 by her peers in the insurance industry.

Ms. Taylor received her B.A. in Political Science from Hampton University in 1981 and her J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1988.
