James A. Cope

James A. Cope is a partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office and a member of the Cybersecurity Breach & Litigation team.  He counsels clients through all phases of investigating and responding to data privacy incidents, including directing forensic investigations, assessing notification obligations and cybersecurity compliance, and responding to regulatory inquiries from state and federal authorities. 

James A. Cope is a partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office and a member of the Cybersecurity Breach & Litigation team.  He counsels clients through all phases of investigating and responding to data privacy incidents, including directing forensic investigations, assessing notification obligations and cybersecurity compliance, and responding to regulatory inquiries from state and federal authorities. 

Prior to joining C&W, Mr. Cope worked at a Philadelphia-based firm dedicated solely to representing organizations facing data privacy events.

He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

He received his B.S. from York College of Pennsylvania in 2011 and his J.D., cum laude, from Widener University Delaware School of Law in 2017.  Prior to entering law school, Mr. Cope worked as a general claims associate for a national insurance company.
