On December 13, 2011, following a two day jury trial in York County, Pennsylvania, Adam L. Seiferth of Cipriani & Werner, P.C. obtained a defense verdict for the client. The plaintiff, who was lodging at the defendant's motel, alleged that she slipped and fell on ice at approximately 4:30 a.m. The plaintiff claimed that the ice formed due to a defective downspout and drainage system, and that she could not see the ice due to malfunctioning exterior lighting.
As a result of the fall, plaintiff asserted she fractured her upper arm and sustained dental injuries for which she sought future medical bills in excess of $100,000 for restorative treatment. Advancing a notice defense, the jury returned a verdict in the defendant's favor, finding no negligence on the part of Cipriani & Werner’s client.
