Medicare Lightens Up

CMS has amended its stated threshold for determining which case settlements to review to confirm that Medicare’s interests are protected. Medicare approval of settlements was previously required for any settlement of $10,000 or more if the Claimant was Medicare eligible at the time of settlement. The threshold has been raised to $25,000.

What It Means to You

It just became a little easier to settle cases. However, Medicare’s interest must always be considered when settling, even for less than $25,000. Contact a Cipriani & Werner attorney to review the particulars of your case.
