Eric Lauerman, a partner in the firm’s Harrisburg office, recently obtained a defense verdict for an obstetrician in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. Plaintiff alleged that the obstetrician negligently delayed delivery in a high-risk pregnancy with non-reassuring fetal monitoring, resulting in stillbirth. The plaintiff’s pre-trial demand was $3 million. Attorney Lauerman argued that an urgent delivery was not indicated because the fetal monitoring suggested a chronic fetal malformation, not an acute hypoxic event.
After a three-day trial, the jury concluded that the standard of care was met and returned a verdict for our client.
