Joseph (Jody) T. Healey is a partner in the firm’s Scranton office.  He concentrates his practice in medical malpractice defense, professional liability, long term healthcare litigation, commercial litigation and product liability matters.

Mr. Healey is a highly-skilled medical malpractice defense attorney who has been practicing for over 25 years.  He has litigated and tried hundreds of cases throughout Pennsylvania and has argued before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

In addition to medical malpractice, Mr. Healey has litigated numerous wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases arising from agricultural accidents throughout the state of Pennsylvania—from Franklin County in Southwest Pennsylvania to Susquehanna County in Northeast Pennsylvania.

As an academician, Mr. Healey has served as an adjunct professor at The Pennsylvania State University Scranton and Marywood University where he taught Healthcare Law.  He has also authored four textbooks on civil litigation for paralegals.  He currently serves as an advisor for the Abington Heights Mock Trial Team, which won the 2024 National High School Mock Trial Championship, competing against teams from 48 states.

Mr. Healey is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the First and Third Circuit Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court.  He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer Rising Star by Philadelphia Magazine for five consecutive years. 

Mr. Healey received his B.A. from University of Scranton in 1993 and his J.D., summa cum laude, from Roger Williams University School of Law in 1996.
