Melissa J. Townsend is a partner in the firm’s D.C. Metro and Washington, D.C. offices.  With more than 10 years of litigation experience, she concentrates her practice in workers’ compensation, general liability and insurance defense matters.

Prior to joining Cipriani & Werner, Ms. Townsend worked for a litigation firm in Rockville, Maryland where she defended employers, insurance companies and third-party administrators in workers’ compensation claims, and commercial and individual clients in general liability matters.

Ms. Townsend is licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the District of Columbia and the State of Maryland.  She is a member of the Maryland State, District of Columbia, and Women’s Bar Associations, as well as the Association of Compensation Insurance Attorneys.

Ms. Townsend earned her B.A. from Villanova University in 2004 and her J.D. from University of Baltimore in 2007.
