Elvin J. Canario is an associate in the firm’s Long Island, NY office.  He concentrates his practice in general liability including construction accident cases filed under Labor Law 240, premises liability, product liability, transportation law matters and insurance coverage focusing primarily on anti-fraud and/or bad faith claims.

Prior to joining C&W, Mr. Canario represented hospitals, university medical centers, physicians, nurses, dentists, oral surgeons, and other health care professionals in medical and dental liability actions.  He also handled general liability matters including representing ride share companies.

He also served as a prosecutor where he managed a high-volume criminal docket and acted as a special prosecutor in hate crime matters.  His earlier work included immigration law where he focused on asylum and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status cases, as well as family court matters.

Mr. Canario received his B.A., cum laude, from Stony Brook University in 2016 and his J.D., summa cum laude, from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2020, where he was Senior Research Editor of Touro Law Review and the part-time Valedictorian.  He is fluent in Spanish.

Mr. Canario was a highly decorated U.S. Marine Corps Aviation Operations Specialist from 2003 to 2007.  Notably, he served in Thailand for 2004 Tsunami Relief and New Orleans for 2005 Hurricane Katrina Relief.  As a veteran, Mr. Canario brings discipline, adaptability and a client-centered mindset to every case he handles.
