John A. Rego is a partner in the firm's Maryland (Metropolitan D.C.) office, which services clients in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia.  With over 30 years of litigation experience, he focuses his practice on civil liability trial work which includes defense of suits based on personal injury and wrongful death, business and commercial torts, product liability, premises liability, construction defects, insurance coverage and related appellate matters.

His clients have included Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies and during the course of his career he has represented parties in numerous multi-million dollar suits.  Specifically related to the transportation industry, Mr. Rego has represented national and local commercial carriers in matters involving violations of C.F.R. provisions, fatigued operators, alcohol and drug intoxication, falsified time and distance logs, overweight vehicle operation, negligent hiring and retention, improper pre and post accident alcohol and drug screening, lessor and lessee liability, third party contractor issues and related matters.

Mr. Rego began his legal career at the long standing Maryland and D.C. defense firm of Anderson & Quinn, LLC upon graduation from law school in 1988.  He remained there for almost three decades, most recently as one of its two managing partners, before joining Cipriani & Werner in 2017.

He is a member of the Maryland State and Federal bars, as well as those of the District of Columbia, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.  Mr. Rego also serves on the Maryland State Bar Committee on Judicial Appointments which interviews and makes recommendations to the Governor regarding potential appointments, and serves on the Maryland Board of Directors of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM).

He received his B.A. in Economics from Boston College in 1985 and his J.D. from the Columbus School of Law, The Catholic University of America in 1988.
